Principal- Fire and Forestry Program

Vicky Amato is a Principal Fire Planner at SWCA Environmental Consultants, bringing a strong, multidisciplinary background in fire ecology, wildfire risk assessment, and natural resource management. She has served as Project Manager or Subject Matter Expert on more than 100 Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) and fire planning initiatives across a wide range of ecosystems and fire regimes throughout the United States.

Vicky is highly experienced in working with both public and private stakeholders on wildfire-related challenges, including fire management planning, utility wildfire mitigation, and post-fire recovery and restoration. She specializes in developing wildfire risk assessments using advanced fire behavior modeling tools alongside field-based assessments to create practical, data-driven mitigation strategies.

In addition to her technical expertise, Vicky is deeply committed to public engagement and has led numerous education and outreach efforts aimed at helping communities understand wildfire risk and build local resilience. She collaborates regularly with land management agencies, utilities, and local governments across the western U.S., applying her knowledge in hazardous fuels reduction, wildland–urban interface (WUI) mitigation, fire behavior modeling, and post-fire monitoring.
