Kris Stewart

Professor Emerita

Building on a research background in numerical analysis, it was natural for me to work with the San Diego Supercomputer Center, SDSC, starting 1986 on mathematical software and curriculum development for high performance computing when I was hired at San Diego State University in 1984. These interests transitioned to teaching 3d game programming, with a focus on research projects that provide CS students with an opportunity for "in service learning" through design, study and implementation of simulations from other disciplines within a 3d Game Engine to benefit the curricula of that "other discipline".

Once a professor, I served in the University Senate, chairing the IIT (Information and Instructional Technology) committee. SDSU joined with other campuses of the California State University, CSU, system in their bid for Internet2 access July 1997. Having seen the power that "fast" Internet brings during summers at SDSC, I felt our campus needed this resource, along with the responsibilities for secure network use that came along with this resource.
