Melissa Floca is the Chief Innovation Officer at the Societal Computing and Innovation Lab (SCIL), based at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) within UC San Diego’s School of Computing, Information and Data Sciences. In this role, she brings together policymakers, practitioners, and researchers to tackle complex societal challenges that require cyberinfrastructure and digital technologies to solve at scale. Melissa serves as a principal investigator on a range of research projects and experiential education initiatives focused on wildfire resilience and the use of AI in scientific applications.
