The National Research Platform (NRP) is transforming access to advanced computing resources by building community-owned infrastructure that connects researchers and educators across all levels of higher education. As a partnership of over 50 institutions led by UC San Diego, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center, NRP provides cutting-edge technologies in AI, high-performance computing, data storage, and networking through its distributed Nautilus Hypercluster. Supported by the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and Department of Defense, the platform breaks down traditional barriers by enabling institutions to pool their computing resources through a "Bring Your Own Resource" model, making powerful GPU and FPGA capabilities accessible to community colleges and research universities alike. Since its launch, the NRP has served as an open testbed for scientific innovation, accelerating research and enabling transformative discoveries across diverse disciplines. Through its connection to the National Data Platform, NRP provides the computational infrastructure for specialized environments such as the Wildfire Commons, enabling researchers to access scalable computing resources for wildfire science and technology innovation.
